Of Sins

The problem with sin is that it eats us up from the inside.

We run away from sin, that’s how we usually deal with it. But the more we run away the more we get tired and eventually get caught. The way to deal with sin is to face it and the more we face it, it slowly losses its power over us.

We recognize sin; ask forgiveness and grace from God and then, sooner or later, we will realize we have overcome it already. Others will not go away but because we are aware and conscious of its reality, it does not tire us anymore instead it challenges us to do good.

If Love

If love is the mark of a Christian then forgiveness is its face. Love is at its finest in forgiveness.

The act of forgiving and asking for forgiveness make a person more compassionate and understanding. This is the cure of a world filled with ego.

There can be no love without forgiveness.

Open Wide The Door

As Christians our role is to open doors not closing it. There is a temptation in community life to be pharisaical. We tend to judge people with the rigidity of written or unwritten rules. I wonder if my YFC leader before thought about kicking me out because of my struggle with drunkenness even after graduating from the camp. If that had been so, I would not have ended up becoming a missionary. My leader did not close the door to me, he open wide the door of Christ to me instead.

We should strive to be good, for sure, however we can never impose upon others our own journey, because they will have there own walk with the Lord. All we can do is show them the path of joy and walk with them. We can never close the door for those who are seeking yet struggling still. The fact that they are coming is reason enough to hope for. They are sensing the sweet aroma of Christ, how can we deprive them of that?

We can be used to change others but ultimately it is Gods. It is in His goodness that He will remove the heart of stone and replace it with a heart of flesh. (Ezekiel 36:26)

Let us open wide the door.

It’s Okay Not To Be Needed

While on the road last week for a conference, I was thinking what could I do to help the service team. From time to time, I have this notion that I need to do something in order to be useful. I guess this comes with a service-oriented mentality. This is good for sure, but sometimes it’s actually not.

It’s okay not to be needed.

Let me drive my point. Sometimes we define our worth based on what we can do. So when we are not doing anything we say, “I am not needed anymore” and we feel helpless and depressed.

We don’t have to do something. It’s okay not being needed. Other things are best done by other people. We don’t have to insist on doing it ourselves. We need to realize that.

You just have to be there; presence is enough. You are valued as you are not what you can do.

Valued For

Genuine relationship takes place when a person is valued for who he is more than what he can do. When they are valued only on what they can do, that’s so sad, for the human person is worth far more than that.

Our capacity to work on certain things varies from one person to another, however the human person himself is the same in dignity and worth. Therefore, we can never gauge a person’s worth by the things he does but only by looking, understanding and appreciating who he is.

Cul De Sac

Last month while I was in Montreal for a leaders training, I came across a French street sign that says, “Cul De Sac”. I asked a sister and she told me it means, “Dead End”. So it is with life, I thought, without Jesus it’s a dead end.

Life without Jesus is a dead end.
