Kindness

The drive for excellence should not be at the expense of kindness. There is a bigger need in the world today and that is kindness. Hatred, anger, anguish and yes hopelessness abounds today; let us show genuine concern. A little consideration towards others can go a long way.

What is excellence if in the end it dehumanizes the person?

If we are to insist on excellence then let it be excellence in being kind.

Generosity

The Lords response to our sinfulness is generosity. He lavishes us instead of condemning until we are overwhelmed with the truth what we are extremely loved. We could not help but change for good because the love received was too strong to ignore.

Generosity makes us say sorry.

We ask, “Why are you lavishing me when I am doing this and that?” But the Lord responds, “I love you for who you are not what you are doing.”

The Blame Game

It’s so easy to pass on the burden of mistakes to someone else. Justifying why things happen without accepting personal faults. We blame others because we want to lessen our own guilt. But it does not negate the fact that things happened partly, if not entirely because of us.

We can never run away from our own mistakes and certainly we can never run away from the truth. We have to own our shortcomings instead of shifting the blame all the time on others.

Lord God, grant us the grace of acceptance and healing from our own mistakes. Amen.

Heart and Posture

Since when did capability became the foremost requirement in choosing a leader in ‘Christian” communal life? Isn’t it the heart and its posture? A heart attuned with God and a posture of humility and keen understanding of humanity, that despite human frailties he continue to stand up again and again if only to prove that the desire for holiness is greater than the desire to quit. A man maybe capable but without a heart and a proper posture, it is nothing. It is even dangerous to some extent.

Passion

If it’s your passion, it ceases to be difficult. That is why we are astonished looking on someone doing what seems to be very difficult to us and yet he is enjoying it. It does not mean that hardship is gone only that because he loves what he is doing that makes it easy. What is our passion in life? Where does our passion come from?
